How do I add the location toolbar to the Mailnews component?

Users of Mozilla, who have migrated from Netscape Communicator, may recall the location toolbar in Communicator. When the folder pane is completely collapsed, a dropdown menu appears above it, allowing the user to navigate between folders/newsgroups. In Netscape 6/7 and Mozilla, there is no location toolbar when collapsing the folder pane.

This patch was originally authored by neil@parkwaycc.co.uk in response to Bug 21344, then tweaked by Josko Plazonic to work with Mozilla 1.7.

To apply the patch to Mozilla 1.7.12 (en-US localization only), download and unzip moz1712-locationbarfiles.zip(1.44MB). There are four files zipped up.

modern.jar

These four files are meant to replace the files of the same name in the Mozilla chrome directory. Make sure Mozilla is closed, when you replace them. The Location Toolbar will be available via the View -> Show/Hide menu.

Josko's FTP space contains a build of Mozilla 1.7.12, containing the Location Toolbar patch, as well as builds of other versions. Note that the original JAR files are included with .original added to the name.
